The new Kempinski Hotel in Havana has officially opened its doors to guests. The hotel resides in the historic Manzana de Gomez building, built in the early 1900s. It was originally Cuba's first European-style shopping center and has since been expanded to include theaters and offices, which have now been turned into the 246-room hotel. The hotel boasts three bars, three restaurants, a gym on its top floor, and a rooftop pool. Visitors must also check out the luxurious, nearly 10,000-square-foot spa.

Each element of the hotel celebrates Cuban history. Bar Costante is named after the bartender that invented Hemingway's Daiquiri at the Bar Floridita around the corner. Evocación Tobacco will pair local cigars and rums for guests to enjoy. The menu of the restaurant on the sixth floor is composed of Cuban delicacies, native to the area. Art by contemporary Cuban artists hangs throughout the hotel, showcasing images from Claudia Corrales, granddaughter of Raúl Corrales Fornos, Fidel Castro’s official photographers.
